The moss is from my reading up on Irish Moss and blue-green algae (or 'Green Powder' as its known in Health Food Stores... but that sounds too much like the ominous "Red Matter" Spock invented. Plus if you say, 'I'm drinking Algae' you just seem SO much organically attune and modern-hippie-weird than if you say "Green Powder." That just sounds like a Gatorade offshoot.... Sorry. Tangent.) This you don't usually cook with, you either mix it in milk or water for a vile concoction that makes you want to... well, it takes major discipline to choke down. OR you can put it in your Nutribullit smoothies, which IF I get some will be the route I take. I'm all about getting our health back on track but I refuse to do so at the expense of our gag reflexes or taste buds! There is enough flavorful foods out there to not have to go that route, and God invented Taste Buds for a reason!
The third: weeds. Ok, so... I've been reading up on Herbs and plants with medicinal properties, and I'll explain why in a minute. But I've been reading REALLY good things about plants that we consider weeds. Well the other day I was picking lettuce out of our garden to make a salad and I noticed lots of plantain and dandelion and sprung up between the nice rows of lettuce and turnips and radishes. Usually I just yank them out and toss them on the edge of the garden, but I had been bemoaning earlier that our salad was just going to be SO boring that night. So I decided to harvest these leafy greens instead. Plus if you go to Whole Foods supermarket, they SELL DANDELION LEAVES (that are ORGANICALLY cultivated! Yeesh. Marketing. bah!) for more expensive than lettuce! Which seems ridiculous but if a Supermarket is selling it I figured I could just pic some and eat it.
Now the salad tasted WONDERFUL. The leaves had a richer feel about them, the salad was well-rounded and flavorful. The plantain tasted like spinach and the dandelions had a mildly bitter taste that just added to the salad.
However. It may have been just the new addition of the greens, or it may have been that instead of making a salad dressing I just dumped avacado, olive, and flax-seed oil AND splashed some Kefir on top for good measure. Or it may have been the combination. Whatever it was, Kyle and I have been C.L.E.A.N.I.N.G. out. Like, I'm pretty sure we've lost weight in the last 2 days because of all the detoxing our bodies have been doing! SO. Just make a note to yourself. If you want to introduce weeds into your diet, and you are a rather overkill-type-personality like myself, please be aware that they can have some interesting effects. And please be sure to have a large supply of toilet paper on hand. And two bathrooms in your house. And lots of candles!
Or I guess you could just add a FEW leaves of weeds into your salad instead of making the proportions 1/3rd of dandelion, 1/3rd of plantain, and 1/3rd of lettuce with lots of laxative oils on top....
